Sealed with a kiss!
A time-honoured-tradition that goes back to the days of ancient Rome!
Kissing at the end of a wedding ceremony is not a legal requirement but it does have its origins in contract law! In ancient Rome, an age of widespread illiteracy, a kiss was used to seal a contract or an agreement. To get married, a couple would kiss in front of the assembled crowd – they literally ‘sealed the deal with a kiss’. Today this very old wedding tradition is often the most captured part of a ceremony!
